The ancient Hebrew Scriptures that comprise the Old Testament were compiled during the sixth and seventh centuries BC but their wise and ageless message is as actual today as it was 2700 years ago.

My work is a translation of the message of biblical passages to a visual form, through the lens of my interpretation, an interpretation in which universality, coexistence and tolerance are the central values.

The recurring motifs in my work are light and trees. Light symbolizes a source of strength, wisdom, energy, hope and faith. Trees symbolize life itself, being rooted (therefore belonging), earthiness and food for body and soul.

Once I choose a specific passage to illustrate I begin by taking the photograph that will be the center of the artwork. That photograph is printed, painted, scanned and worked on digitally to produce a new original that in turn is mounted on canvas and painted with acrylic, ink, pastels and enamel.

Copies from the artwork are printed and mounted on ceramic tiles to be used as paper weights or wall hangings.

The artwork is also sold as 12"X12" photographic prints, hinged on a 16"X20" acid free white foam board and signed by the artist.
